This week’s Monday Muse highlights an amazing organization in northern New Hampshire. WREN, or Women’s Rural Entrepreneurial Network, is an organization dedicated to improving the lives of women in rural areas. Their mission statement reads: Dedicated to improving lives and livelihoods, WREN’s mission is to inspire, create and connect through economic, educational, personal, and community development. Pretty amazing! The flagship of their operation is a shop located in Bethlehem, New Hampshire. LocalWorks Marketplace at WREN has a wonderful selection of products made by the women they support. Here you can find treasures like handmade pottery, art, textiles, jewelry, books, confections, pickles, jams, gifts, and other housewares. For me a visit to the area is never complete without stopping here! This year my finds included an adorable maple syrup pitcher and a great pair of hand made earrings. In addition to supporting now two shops, studio space, and an art gallery, WREN also sponsors local farmer’s markets and offers many classes to the local community. A true champion of the town, the installation of the LocalWorks shop has indeed revitalized the tiny and quaint downtown of Bethlehem.

So, when you plan your trip to northern New Hampshire (see my previous blog post on Littleton, NH) add this to your list! You’ll be glad you did!
